The Disabled Opportunity Council (DOC) was established in October 1981. In support of the Executive Branch goal that the Federal government become a model of people with disabilities, the Council strives to help increase Federal employment and advancement opportunities for disabled people.
To that end, the DOC works cooperatively with the other special emphasis councils, job developers for people with disabilities such as the Department of Rehabilitation, and other disabled community members and advocates. The DOC serves as a forum for People with Disabilities Managers, Selective Placement Coordinators, disabled employees, and EEO and human resource officials to exchange information and ideas. The Council provides bi-monthly training on legal and other disability-related issues.
