The San Francisco Bay Area
Hispanic Employment Program Managers' Council
The purpose of the San Francisco Bay Area Hispanic Employment Program Managers' Council (SFBAHEPMC) shall be a continual resource of information, employment opportunities and career enhancement, and sponsor training workshops; conferences and other educational related activities to further the careers of current federally employed Hispanics and to continually be a positive resource of mentors and information to bay area college-age youth via guidance and financial endowments.
Accomplishments for 2003:
With the retention of current board members, continual goals of striving to "educate, inform, and provide" were paramount throughout the year. In addition, the HEPM Council was the host for this year's annual Quad EEO Training conference. The Council enthusiastically supported the conference by chairing the overall event as well as two other members chairing vital committees for the conference.
We had several training meetings, including a powerful PowerPoint presentation by EEO manager Jose Briseno (US Forest Service) on the topic of "Latinos, How Recent Demographics Will Impact the Federal Government in California, and in the U.S."
We continued our pursuit to offer financial assistance to bay area college students by financially supporting Rigo Chacon's "Abrazos and Books" charity. This worthwhile organization gives out scholarships and hope to Santa Clara county high school students and a few in Mexico.
We helped with the success of a sponsored a "toy-drive" during "joint council holiday luncheon" held on Thursday, December 11th, 2003.
